Afreximbank Disburses US$100-Million Infrastructure Facility to Bahamas Striping Group for National Road Rehabilitation Programme

The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) has announced the disbursement of a US$100 million Receivables Discounting Facility to Bahamas Striping Group of Companies Ltd (BSGC), an indigenous Bahamian-owned enterprise founded in 2010, to finance the rehabilitation and construction of over 200 miles of critical road infrastructure across multiple islands in The Bahamas.

The facility, structured as a receivables factoring line tied to government-approved contracts, was executed under a Framework Agreement signed with the Government of The Bahamas on the sidelines of the 48th CARICOM Heads of Government Conference held in Bridgetown, Barbados, in 2025.

Mr Okechukwu Ihejirika, Acting Director of Operations at Afreximbank for CARICOM, described the financing as reflecting an “unwavering commitment to supporting Global Africa partners in developing trade-facilitating infrastructure” and as “an innovative approach to structured financing in inter-regional partnerships”. BSGC, which has completed over 200 projects across the Nassau, Exuma, and Eleuthera regions and employs more than 300 persons including subcontractors, will deploy the funds for asphalt paving, road striping, safety enhancements, and maintenance works. The transaction builds upon partnerships established at Afreximbank’s 2024 Annual Meetings and the Afro-Caribbean Trade and Investment Forum held in Nassau.
