DR moving to join the OECD. Moving towards a strategic partnership between the OECD and Latin America.
The Dominican Republic is advancing efforts to join the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), aiming to attract foreign investment and promote sustainable development. To support its bid, the government issued decrees establishing an inter-institutional commission to develop a Public Integrity System and coordinating OECD accession initiatives across key ministries. These steps emphasise improved governance, transparency, and alignment with international standards.
The OECD, with 38 member countries including Latin American nations like Chile and Mexico, offers data and policy guidance to tackle challenges such as poverty, inequality, and institutional weaknesses. Membership would support the Dominican Republic’s National Development Strategy 2030 focused on inclusive and sustainable growth.
