Government confident of removal from EU blacklist.

Trinidad and Tobago is on track to be removed from the EU tax blacklist by February 2026, Finance Minister Davendranath Tancoo confirmed. The EU has recognised progress on transparency, automatic exchange of information, and corporate tax reporting. Key reforms included accession to the OECD’s Multilateral Convention in 2025 and implementing country-by-country reporting for multinationals.

The OECD Global Forum rated the country “largely compliant,” clearing major hurdles. Delisting would restore access to European Investment Bank and EU climate funds, unlock billions in financing, lower borrowing costs, boost trade, and attract foreign investment. Tancoo said this would strengthen fiscal stability and support economic diversification into sustainable growth sectors.
