Government seeking operator for 300 MW Gas-to-Shore power plant.
The government has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for managing operations and maintenance of a 300 MW power plant, part of the Gas-to-Energy Project, set to be commissioned in late 2025. Located in the Wales Industrial Zone near Hato International Airport, the plant will use a 12-inch pipeline from the Stabroek Block to supply gas and sell electricity to Guyana Power and Light under a Power Purchase Agreement. Eligible firms must have experience with at least five combined-cycle plants. Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo announced that gas integration will reduce emissions by 35%. By 2025, the project and a new solar facility will provide around 335 MW, doubling Guyana’s power supply and improving reliability. Phase 2 seeks proposals for an additional 250 MW.
