CPT opens applications for interim Prime Minister. Haiti has commenced the search for a new Prime Minister, a pivotal step outlined in the April agreement to establish the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT). This move reflects Haiti’s broader mission to address longstanding political and socio-economic issues. The CPT aims to facilitate a democratic transition within the CARICOM member country. However, tensions persist, notably with the Fanmi Lavalas party’s reservations about the interim Prime Minister. Applications for the prime ministerial position were open until May 17, with strict eligibility criteria in place. Edgar Leblanc Fils has been appointed provisional president to guide Haiti through this transitional phase, bolstered by international support to enhance security amid gang violence.
