Residency clause to be included in CBI reform. St Kitts and Nevis will soon require Citizenship by Investment applicants to fulfil a residency clause and submit biometric data, Prime Minister Terrance Drew announced. The new law, set for parliamentary approval within weeks, also mandates in-person or verified virtual interviews. While similar programmes have faced international scrutiny, such as potential US travel bans and EU visa suspensions for investor-citizens lacking genuine ties, Drew said these reforms stem from his administration’s strategic roadmap to strengthen passport integrity and align with global best practices. He emphasised that transparency and oversight are central to the CBI programme. Other Eastern Caribbean islands are enacting legislative tweaks and establishing an independent regulatory authority.
