Nevis secures land deal to allow airport expansion. The Nevis Island Administration (NIA) is finalising land agreements for the Vance W. Amory International Airport (VAIA) expansion, targeting construction commencement in 2024. Premier Mark Brantley announced progress in land negotiations, with agreements for land acquisition and exchanges being prepared. Architects and consultants are finalising designs, including road realignment. Revised plans aim to minimise the displacement of homes and businesses. Consultants Perez Engineering Construction and Consulting Services Limited are now on the island. Construction is anticipated to start this year pending financing details. The expansion will upgrade the runway, control tower, lighting, fencing, fuel farm, fire hall, parking apron, and terminal facilities.
