John has over 30 years experience in the oil and gas exploration industry, the majority of this time working for Tullow Oil, a leading independent global exploration Company. In the early Tullow years John lived and worked in the Indian sub-Continent and South East Asia while in the latter 13 years John has worked exclusively in the South America and Caribbean Region.

As Resident Manager in a number of countries in South America, John had primary responsibility for all of the in-country company activities, including Health and Safety, Social Investment and acted as the primary contact with oil and gas regulators and national oil companies. In addition to the Country Manager role, John had overarching responsibility throughout South America and the Caribbean for delivery of new business opportunities, external affairs, government liaison and social performance. In this new business development role John was often Tullow’s first visitor into countries of interest, building on and maintaining relationships with government agencies, the oil and gas regulator as well as with government departments and ministries.
